Diana Kendros Bio

We are in desperate times that calls for increased awareness and education now.

The stigma around mental illness damages everyone. It is critical to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental illness in order to become an advocate for those in trouble. Studies show that 90% of people who receive treatment and education for themselves and their families, are on the path to recovery.

Through understanding that every brain is different and every brain responds differently to medications, treatment programs, and other therapies, I have learned there are a multitude of resources and modalities available to help. These programs improve, educate, and provide much needed support.

This is why I founded Hope for Life in the spring of 2016.

My coaching practice offers family peer support, life and career coaching, relationship and communication strategies, and learning about mental health education and recovery programs. In addition, I give presentations on the Essentials of Mental Health, and offer Communication Workshops to corporations, organizations, groups, and schools. In this way, Hope for Life supports communities in a variety of sectors to cope with the escalating issues surrounding mental health disorders.

The information we offer helps people navigate through the ever changing health care system.

In conjunction with our National Partners, we bring evidence-based mental health education programs, recovery and resilience trainings, and lectures to communities in Southeast Iowa and

Northern Michigan through. Our goal is to expand nationwide.

My professional training and experience includes:

Life Strategist and Family Peer Mental Health Coach: Life Coaching training with Fowler-Wainwright International - the Academy for Professional Coaching, Trained in Compassionate Communication Strategies from the Center of Nonviolent communication by the late Marshall Rosenberg.

Training in Personal and Professional Development:

Extensive twelve years of study with the late Dr. Wayne Dyer and Louise Hay of Hay House Publishing. As Director of The Center for Perfect Health, I successfully coordinated events for Deepak Chopra, M.D., with audiences of over 1000 attendees. Participated in multiple seminars with James Malinchak, Anthony Robbins, Jack Canfield, and the Work of Byron Katie.

Completed course work in Family Peer Support Specialist training with University of Iowa in partnership with National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Completed Family to Family 12-week intensive training with NAMI. Completed course work for phase one WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) and in the process of obtaining my WRAP Facilitator Certification with the Copeland Center.

In 2015, I was awarded International best selling author on Amazon for two book anthologies about our story of mental health and recovery, Ready, Aim, Thrive and Messages that Matter. I love speaking and sharing our story.

I am the mother of two adult children. My daughter lives in Vienna, Austria and has completed her master’s degree in vocal performance. My son is in college studying film and screenwriting.

Currently, I live in Grand Traverse County, MI and travel between Michigan and Iowa offering our Hope for Life programs. I will be conducting a keynote speech and act as the lead moderator for World Mental Health Day in Traverse City, MI in the fall. Also working on my new book that will be released by the end of 2019.

What our customers are saying

"The Makeigs’ story is one of struggle, courage, and hard-won triumph. I believe anyone involved with school-age children would benefit from reading about this family’s determination to develop a plan that would enable Demitri to emerge as the confident, talented, and

loving young man that he is.”
